Ingredients for SIDEWALK CHALK PAINT: 1/2 Cup water 1/2 Cup cornstarch Food Coloring (We used drops this time instead of gel)
Find a recipe that you have the ingredients for and start making your own art supplies. You will need an adult to help you. They can make sure you are following the recipe correctly. Measuring can be tricky. Have fun and try to add some color to your work.
Place all the ingredients in your container, close the lid, shake to mix the ingredients up, and then you are ready to paint.
HOME MADE WINDOW PAINTS
Into a large bowl we mixed : 1 cup of plain flour (all purpose) 1 cup of water 1 cup of washing up liquid (dish soap) * we used Ecover brand which has no SLS, therefore is not too bubbly. This helps keep the paint nice and smooth when it’s finished *
separate the mixture into small containers and add a very tiny amount of gel food colouring to each one, stirring it through to mix it completely. I use these Wilton Gel colours for all play recipes and play dough/ salt dough that we make too, and they’re fantastic!
DIY Foam Paint
Shaving cream, glue, food coloring Mix equal parts shaving cream and glue into a ziplock bag, add your desired food coloring and then, with the bag sealed, squish the bag together until all your ingredients are nicely mixed together. Have your little artists create a layout for their design on a semi-rigid material (I used large white cardboard envelopes) and when they’re ready for the foam simply cut off a corner at the bottom of the bag and use like you’re piping icing. Once the art has been completed, set aside so the foam can dry and solidify overnight.
